Louis Austin Benton was born on January 27, 1957 to Lora Dee (Harrelson) Benton and Virgil Benton. He passed away on December 12, 2022 at his home with his loved ones and his beloved Rottweiler Riggs.

Louis then went to Central High School were he graduated in 1975. While is high school he worked with his dad at ABC plumber where he became a master plumber and once out of school he took those skills to St. Mary's Hospital where he was the head Maintenance/Plumber until he retired in 1989. He never met a stranger and always knew everyone's name even after meeting them only once. The main part of the last 20 years of his life he spent with the Rottweilers, Shere Kahn, Tigger, Chism and Riggs, who was there during his last moments ( we are pretty sure Riggs was his favorite). Louis will be greatly missed by all that loved him, but now he is in his final resting place.

Steven Frank Sweeney, age 81, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 17, 2022, in Evansville, IN after a long courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born on March 5, 1941, to Charles and Dorothy Sweeney in Vincennes IN. He graduated from Gary Edison High School in 1959 and immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably as a Fire Control Specialist on B-47 Bombers. Following his military service, Steve worked as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW Local 697) and had just celebrated his 55th anniversary as a member of the organization. He had a long career in the electrical industry beginning as an electrician’s apprentice, then a journeyman, an Electrical Inspector at Alcoa Warrick Operations from 1987 to 1994, and as an Electrical Estimator at Industrial Contractors (ICI) from 1995 until his retirement in 2006. Steve was highly regarded by his colleagues for his expertise, his professionalism, and his affability. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who was always up for the challenge no matter the terrain, the weather, or time of day. He loved to hunt and to fish and he embraced the shared experience with his family and friends. Charles Darwin once remarked that “A man’s friendships are one of the best measures of his worth.” If that is true, then Steve measured up. He was much like his father, Charles. He made friends fast and he cultivated those friendships for life. He was a remarkable storyteller and loved to “Tell the Tale”, some true and some exaggerated, but always fun to hear. His absence certainly leaves a void in the lives of family and friends, but the memories he created with all of us live on uninterrupted. Steve was always a dedicated Indiana basketball fan who loved the quote by Bob Knight, “Basketball may have been invented in Massachusetts, but it was made for Indiana!” Brother Steve Sweeney was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in 1982 at Glendale Lodge No. 461 located at 5972 S. Glendale Rd.

Rose Mary Stuckey can be described as a mother, a wife, a grandmother, an aunt, a friend, caring, funny, full of life, tenacious, and so much more. The word to describe her this past year would be resilient. Our resilient Rose Mary Stuckey, age 75, of Boone, Iowa, lost her long battle with cancer on August 5th, 2022. 

Rose Mary was born on August 31st, 1946 in Boone, Iowa, daughter of Kenneth and Iva Belle Myers. She grew up in the United Methodist Church. She attended Boone High and graduated in the Spring of 1964. She then went on to Boone Junior College where she graduated from in the Spring of 1966. Two years later, on June 15th, 1968, she married Dennis Stuckey. She was employed at Northwestern Bell from 1968-1975. After 1975, she devoted her time to raising her two boys, Todd and Scott Stuckey. From 1995-2000, she worked at DMACC. 

Throughout her retirement, Rose Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She spent part of her retirement in Florida and enjoyed many sunny days on the beach. She loved to entertain and make sure everyone felt welcome and was well taken care of. 

Christopher A. “Biggie” Small, 50, lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on November 2nd, 2022, at Heart to Heart Inpatient Hospice. He was born in Evansville, IN to Rodney Small and Karen Small (Ohning). 

He met no strangers wherever he went. He was full of life and love. His pastimes included playing poker; Omaha and Hold‘Em specifically. He was into racing and collecting RC’s along with going on paranormal investigations every now and then. He will be terribly missed by all that knew him. Our hearts are broken but also somewhat soothed that his fight is over and he is no longer struggling or in pain. His spirit will continue on in the wonderful memories which he left with so many of us.

Melindie M. Curtis-Salmon, 57, of Evansville passed away Thursday September 29, 2022. She was born November 25, 1964 in Rumford, Maine to the late Roger Legere and Sharon Craft-Loudy.

She attended the University of Maine and went on to work in sales at Anchor Industries. Mindy was a member of Old North UMC and was involved in several groups including the YMCA, Live-Strong, and Chemo Buddies. She was a sports fanatic, cross country skiing state champion in Maine. Mindy also won the women’s golf league tournament at Clearcrest. She was a raging New Englander and enjoyed painting, planting, reading, sewing, and spending time at the beach. Mindy selflessly devoted her life to her family and being a mom. She dearly loved her family.

FORT BRANCH — Alberta “Bert” L. Conner, 88, of Fort Branch, died Oct. 9, 2022, at Transcendent Health Care in Owensville. She was born in Fort Branch Oct. 27, 1933, to Raymond and Ellen (Wiseman) Neufelder.

Service is at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Stodghill Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Akins officiating. Visitation is from noon to service time Saturday. Cremation and entombment in the Holy Cross Mausoleum is at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Chemo Buddies. Linda Marie Nelson, 69, of Boonville, Indiana, entered into Heaven on Friday, September 2, 2022, at her home. She was born February 8, 1953, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Jerome and Mary (Mayer) Voelker.

Linda graduated from Mater Dei High School, Class of 1971. She loved family, fishing, traveling, UE Basketball, and her grandson, Dax. Linda had worked at Schnucks in Newburgh for 29 years. She attended St. Clements Catholic Church in Boonville.

Early on the morning of September 7, 2022, Jacqueline Schen passed away peacefully while being attended to and comforted by her children. Jacqueline was born on February 5, 1946 in the city Plymouth, Montserrat, BWI, and grew up in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Graduating from the Hôtel-Dieu Nursing School, Windsor, she went on to work at a Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where she met her future husband, Dr. Sanford Elliott Schen. In 1972, she moved to Evansville, IN with her devoted and loving husband where she went on to raise her family, become a favored restauranteur, and make lifelong connections within her community. Jacquie loved gardening, cooking, baking and art.

Janet C. Wempe, 63, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 27, 1959, to James Roy and Carol Mary (Shafer) Templin. Janet graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1977 and the University of Evansville in 1981, to pursue a career in healthcare. She worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant serving others at home and in the community. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she served on many school and church councils and groups. She was proud to receive the Bilskie Award in 2022 for exemplifying “stewardship” in her service of time, talent and treasure. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, gardening, sitcoms, and the simple things. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and poured her heart into “gifting” others. Janet was a person who loved big, gave way more than she took, and put God and family before herself. She was so proud to raise her three daughters and delighted in their many accomplishments. Her family and friends will miss her very much.

Bonnie A. Porter, 83, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Tuesday July 26, 2022 with her husband and children at her side. Bonnie was born in Lansing, MI on Jan. 11, 1939 to the late Walter R. and Barbara J. (Dewey) Baker. Bonnie enjoyed cooking, sewing, and playing music on her piano and guitar. She also loved animals, fishing and the arts. In her younger years, she was a model for the John Robert Powers Agency and was crowned "Miss Florida Sunshine". Bonnie acted as a former Treasurer of the Evansville Philharmonic Guild and was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and Newburgh Women's Club. She was a member of many other social organizations such as Dining Club and Gourmet Club and loved to host and entertain friends and loved ones in her home. She and Bob traveled the world and shared their experiences with everyone they met. Both enjoyed a lifetime love of culture, history and music that will be carried on by their family and friends.

David "Dave" Allen Perry, 50, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Dave was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 13, 1971 to Ronald Perry and Joan (Elpers) Hudson. He was a 1990 graduate of North High School. Dave spent his entire working career in construction. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He also had a passion for old cars. Dave was a perfectionist and could fix anything. He had a heart of gold, and never met a stranger with his loving and outgoing personality. Above all else, Dave loved spending time with his friends and family. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

"Bob" Robert Frank Reisinger, 71, of Evansville, IN passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at home. He was born on September 1, 1950 to the late Alfred and Edna (Schmidt) Reisinger.

Bob was a member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church. A member of Local 136 Plumbers Steamfitters Union for 49 plus years. He retired in 2005. Bob enjoyed coaching his sons in T-ball then baseball for 10 years. After retirement, Bob loved playing softball and riding his bike while wintering in Florida; playing with his grandchildren, enjoyed mowing grass at Burdette Park. Affectionately known to some as “The Bob.”

Ansalea “Ancy” Kaiser, 71, left this earth for her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 7th, 2022. She was surrounded by family who loved her dearly. Ansalea was a farm wife for more than 40 years, working alongside her husband in the fields as well as managing their home and family. She took great pride in her beautiful yard and gardens, and was known for her wonderful cooking and baking skills, sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends.

She loved antiquing and refinishing furniture, much of which she sold through her Liberty House Antiques shop in Bruceville. She enjoyed helping friends and customers decorate their homes and especially loved visiting with them in her store.

She loved her small town, where she organized and ran the annual Bruceville Community Yard Sales for twenty years.

Ancy found a new joy when she became a grandmother, and spent many hours on the road traveling to spend time with her grandsons. She loved having the boys for extended stays on the farm, and always made their favorite foods including homemade pizza, noodles, and popcorn, at midnight, when they were together.

Regina Joyce (Jaquess) Garris, age 71, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital Evansville. Regina was born June 4, 1951, in Evansville, IN, to the late John Jaquess and Sybil Kaho. She attended Reitz High School and afterwards, Regina enrolled at Roger’s Hair Academy and became a licensed Cosmetologist. Regina enjoyed crocheting and attending Bible Study at CFC with her sister, Renee. She attended Vann Avenue Baptist Church. Regina loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. 

Morgan Phelps Stubblefield, 25, of Sesser, passed away on Wednesday June 22, 2022 at her home. She was born on January 17, 1997 in DuQuoin, IL to Tony and Maria (Wright) Phelps. She married Brandon Stubblefield on December 31, 2021 and he survives of Sesser. She was loved by her many close friends and she loved her doggos Millie and Leo. 

Shirley A. Kuhlenhoelter, 86, of Evansville, IN passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on December 6, 1935.

She was a 1953 Graduate of FJ Reitz High School and worked at Mead Johnson until she retired. Shirley was an active member of St. Paul’s UCC and served on the ladies aide. She was also a member of the Good Times Gals and loved to travel all over with her friends and family.

Randel Baxter, 77, of Newburgh peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2022 with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born February 26, 1945 in Beaver Dam, KY to the late Walter and McToka (Lyon) Baxter.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and a master carpenter by trade. He loved all animals.

Judy L. Willis, 79, of Winslow, passed away May 5, 2022 in Newburgh, IN. She was born June 11, 1942 in Petersburg, IN to Albert and Beatrice (Wolven) Woods. Judy attended Petersburg High School and went on to work for GE and Kimball Electronics for many years. She was a proud member of the Ayrshire Valley General Baptist Church. She and her husband of 61 years, Carl, were married June 18, 1960.

Judy is survived by her husband, Carl Willis; son, Darrin (Angie) Willis; daughter, Carla Hayden; grandchildren, Vanessa Hayden, Cassie (Cory) Scraper, Olivia (Daniel) Robbins, and Hunter (Destiny) Willis; 11 great grandchildren; and sister, Geraldine OoleyRichard A. Wilhite, age 85, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family.

Richard was born September 20, 1936, in Evansville, IN, to Carl J. and Elsie (Bruner) Wilhite. He graduated from Central High School and was a Veteran with the National Guard. Richard was a member of Oak Hill Bible Fellowship where he was a lifetime member of the AIC Class. He worked as a Tool Designer with Potter Brumfield and later worked at Arkla for 45 years in production. Richard was a member of the Road Knights, grew up on the Ohio River, and enjoyed boating, NASCAR, playing Solitaire on his iPad, and tinkering in his garage.

Justin Kim Lindsay, 72 of Newburgh, Indiana passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at home. He was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on January 11, 1950 to the late Walter and Marcetta Lindsay.

Justin graduated from Boonville High School with the class of 1968. He was a Navy veteran that made three cruises in and around Vietnam aboard the U.S.S. Tripoli LPH10. Justin retired from Alcoa after more than 30 years. He was an avid gun and bow hunter of deer and squirrels, and enjoyed anything to do with the great outdoors, especially piddling around in his garden.

Pamela "Pam" (Hester) Attebury, 63, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side.

Pam was born in Evansville, Indiana on September 20, 1958 to the late Calvin and Lourenna "Ren" (Harrawood) Hester. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1976. Pam married her high school sweetheart, Tim Attebury and they made Evansville their home. Pam considered being a wife and mother her greatest joy. Her two sons, Wesley and Kyle kept the Attebury home alive with activity. Pam was the biggest fan at her sons many sporting events. She worked at Bristol Myers after Kyle entered kindergarten but never missed their activities. In recent years Pam enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as they were the light of her life. She was best known amongst her friends and family for having them over during holidays and birthdays, and cooking them the best meals. Pam was a woman of strong, undeniable faith. She will be dearly missed by all who love her.

Brenda Gayle (Kennedy) Barnett, age 78, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

Brenda was born May 23, 1943, in Evansville, IN, to G.W. and Hesperine (Walker) Kennedy. She graduated from Central High School in 1961 and was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. Brenda worked as the Bookkeeper and Corporate Secretary with Firemaster, Inc. for 25 years and was a Sunday School teacher since 1992. She enjoyed her little kitty cats, Tinker Bell and Pumpkin. Brenda was a board game enthusiast who showed no mercy, and she enjoyed playing online games with her friends and family. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Ronald G. Moore, 76, passed away peacefully at home, January 18, 2022, surrounded by his family. Ron was born To Roscoe and Lucille Moore in Evansville.

He graduated from F.J. Reitz High School in 1963. Ron then enlisted in the United States Marines Corp, serving from 1965-1969, including a tour in Vietnam where he was a helicopter mechanic. He married his loving wife, Martha (Berry) August 8, 1970. Ron retired from Whirlpool Corporation, where he worked from 1969-2006. After retirement, Ron and Martha enjoyed traveling, especially to South Dakota and other parts of the West. He also treasured spending time with his family and friends.
